Essential prevention and hygiene.
Adherence to some simple rules of prevention and hygiene is essential for healthy individuals as well as those suffering from the flu. Consistent observance of those rules reduces viral transmission and the risk of infection!
Vaccination.
The most effective method to protect yourself from the flu is vaccination. It is recommended to those with an increased risk of complications and those in close personal or professional contact with them. It is also available to anyone else who would like to avoid catching the flu.
Wash your hands.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water several times a day.
Cough or sneeze into a tissue.
Hold a tissue in front of your mouth and nose when your cough or sneeze. Throw your tissue into a bin after use and then wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm.
If you don’t have a tissue on you, please cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm. This is more hygienic than holding your hand in front of your mouth. If you do use your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water as soon as possible.
Stay at home.
If you experience flu symptoms, stay at home to prevent spreading the disease. Treat your flu completely at home. Wait at least one day after your fever has subsided completely before returning to your daily routine outside of home.
